Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information that reaches us through this website or through contact with our practice. It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past. If anything in it is unclear, write to us and we will answer in plain terms.

01Who we are

Avenir Legal Partners Limited is a limited liability company registered with the Registrar of Companies of Masdar City Free Zone, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, under license MC 14917, and licensed for Legal Consultancy and Tax Consultancy. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Avenir Legal Partners Limited. We are the controller of the personal data described below.

02What this website collects

This website is deliberately simple. It contains no contact forms, no user accounts, no advertising and no analytics or tracking services. It sets no cookies of its own and does not build a profile of you.

Two things still happen, as they do on any website:

• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information about requests to the site, such as an abbreviated IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and general browser information. This is used to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse.
• Web fonts. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore contacts Google's servers to retrieve those files, which discloses your IP address to Google. If you prefer this not to happen, most browsers allow you to block third-party font requests.

03Information you give us

If you write to us, call us, or engage us, you provide information yourself. Depending on the matter, that may include:

• Your name, employer, role and contact details.
• Identification and verification documents required by law before we can act, including passport or identity card details, proof of address, and information about shareholders, directors and ultimate beneficial owners.
• The substance of the matter itself, including corporate, financial, tax and commercial information about you or your business.
• Any other information you choose to send us.

Please do not send sensitive material by email until we have confirmed we can act, and please do not send us information belonging to another person unless you are entitled to share it.

04How we use it

• To respond to your enquiry and decide whether we can properly take the matter on.
• To carry out the engagement, prepare advice and documents, and correspond with authorities, counterparties and other advisers on your instructions.
• To meet our own legal obligations, including client identification, anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing checks, sanctions screening, conflict checks, tax and accounting record-keeping.
• To administer the practice, including billing, and to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it.

05Confidentiality

Confidentiality is not a clause we send you. It is the condition on which the work is done at all.

Information you give us in connection with a matter is treated as confidential and is shared only as described in section 06. Professional confidentiality obligations continue after a matter ends and after any engagement is terminated.

06When we share information

We share personal data only where it is necessary, and only with:

• Authorities and registries where the matter requires it, including the UAE Federal Tax Authority, free zone authorities and company registrars, acting on your instructions.
• Other advisers working on the same matter, such as counsel in another jurisdiction, auditors or notaries, where you have asked us to involve them or where the matter cannot progress without them.
• Service providers that support the practice under contract, such as our email and document hosting providers, and our website host. They act on our instructions and are bound to confidentiality.
• Regulators, courts or law enforcement, where disclosure is required by applicable law or by a binding order.

07Transfers outside the United Arab Emirates

We work across borders and our team and providers are located in more than one country, so personal data may be transferred outside the United Arab Emirates. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the information remains protected to a standard consistent with UAE law, including contractual confidentiality and security commitments from the parties receiving it.

08How long we keep it

We keep matter files and the identification records that support them for as long as the engagement continues and afterwards for the period required by applicable law, professional obligations and the limitation periods that apply to potential claims. Correspondence that does not lead to an engagement is kept only as long as needed to record that decision, and is then deleted.

09Your rights

Subject to the exceptions in UAE law and to our professional obligations, you may ask us to:

• Confirm whether we hold personal data about you and give you access to it.
• Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Delete information we no longer have a lawful basis or professional reason to keep.
• Restrict or object to a particular use of your information.
• Withdraw a consent you have given, without affecting anything done before the withdrawal.
• Receive a copy of information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used format.

Write to info@avenirlp.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and, where we cannot do what you have asked, we will explain why. Some rights are limited where the information is subject to professional confidentiality, is needed to establish or defend a legal claim, or must be retained under anti-money-laundering or tax law.

10Security

We use access controls, encrypted transport for email and document storage, and provider-side protections appropriate to the sensitivity of the material. No system is perfect, and email in particular is not a secure channel by default. For anything genuinely sensitive, ask us and we will agree a safer method of delivery.

11Other websites

Where this site links to a third-party website, that site's own privacy practices apply. We are not responsible for the content or the data handling of sites we do not operate.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the practice or the law changes. The version and effective date at the top of this page always show the current text. Material changes will be reflected in a new version number.
